Ζητάμε άμεσα –εδώ και τώρα– πολλές φορές να σβήσει ο πόνος μας και να έρθει η ανακούφιση. Όμως η αληθινή θεραπεία δεν ταυτίζεται πάντοτε με το μοτίβο που έχουμε θεμελιώσει μέσα μας «να γίνω καλά όπως το θέλω εγώ η όποτε το θέλω εγώ». Είναι κάτι βα­θύτερο, μυστηριακό, που από τώρα ανοίγει τον δρόμο προς την αιωνιότητα χωρίς να το συνειδητοποιούμε άμεσα.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eΟ  Θεός είναι ο μέγας Ιατρός, όχι μόνο των σω­μα­τικών νόσων αλλά κυρίως των αοράτων τραυμάτων: Της αμαρτίας, της μνησικακίας, της μοναξιάς, της απόγνωσης. Πολλές φορές αυτές οι πλη­γές είναι βαθύτερες και σοβαρότερες από κάθε σωματική αρρώστια, γι’ αυτό και όταν η Θεία Χά­ρη ξεκινάει να τις αγγίζει, η ανάπαυση που χαρίζεται δεν συγκρίνεται με καμία «ανθρώπινη λύ­ση», γιατί πλέον ο Χριστός αρχίζει σιγά-σιγά να κατοικεί μέσα στην καρδιά και να τα διορθώνει όλα με τον δικό Του τρόπο. Η θεραπεία δεν έρχεται πάντα ακαριαία, ούτε πάντα όπως τη ζητούμε. Αρκετές φορές ο Θεός «αργεί», όχι γιατί δεν μας ακούει, αλλά γιατί σ’ αυτήν την πορεία της υπομονής και της δοκιμασίας θεραπεύει άλλα, βα­θύτερα στρώματα της ψυχής μας. Ο  Άγιος Παΐσιος έλεγε ότι όταν ο πόνος παραδοθεί στον Χριστό γίνεται φάρμακο που καθαρίζει την καρδιά, και ότι άλλο είναι η απλή απαλλαγή από το πρόβλημα και άλλο η άνωθεν παρηγοριά που χα­ρίζει μετάνοια, πίστη και ελπίδα. Η αληθινή θε­ραπεία δεν είναι μόνο «να περάσει ο πόνος», όπως πολύ πρόχειρα θέλουμε όλοι όταν περνάμε μια δοκιμασία, αλλά να γεννηθεί μέσα μας μια άλλη σχέση με τον Κύριο.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eΣτις σελίδες αυτού του βιβλίου, η γερόντισσα Σω­φρονία μας ταξιδεύει μέσα μας.
