The material included in this book comes, primarily, from interviews and records of these Constantinopolitans, who still had alive, in their memories and in their hearts, the traditional everyday life of the City, as they themselves had experienced it and, in part, configure. The tales and traditions that follow come from the "Folklore School" of professor and academic G. A. Megas, the manuscripts of which are kept at the Hellenic Folklore Society, under the supervision of its president, professor M. G. Meraklis, the rector of the Greek folklorists and leading scholar of the Greek folk tale. They were found, during the scientific cataloging of this archive, which has been undertaken by the writer, and will soon see the light of publication, and it was decided that they should be published, as a small contribution both to the study of the Greek fairy tale and to the process of writing a scientific and updated catalog of Greek fairy tales, as well as in the neglected but particularly rich Constantinopolitan folklore.
