ATHENS (7-8 OCTOBER 2011)
Twenty years have passed since 1991, when the First International Conference on Alexandros Papadiamantis took place in Skiathos, September 20-24, the Proceedings of which Conference were published by Domos Publications in 1996. I consider it a favor of fate that I was then the president of of the organizing committee [...] For the third time, as president of the Society and of the organizing committee, I preface the two volumes of the Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Papadiamantis, which this time took place in Skiathos and then in Athens.
The organizing committee decided in principle to hold the Conference with the theme: "Papadiamantis of translators and being translated", but to accept a few announcements of particular interest, apart from the theme. However, the circular letters we sent brought us positive responses both within and outside of the above topic. This resulted in the organizing committee agreeing to hold the Conference in two circles, one in Skiathos with a general theme and one in Athens with a specific theme. The scientific review committee of the announcements accepted an approximately equal amount, around thirty-five, announcements in both thematic areas, which certainly shows the growing interest of scholars in the work of the great Skiathite.
We must emphasize, next to the participation of the approved Papadiamantologists, the presence with important announcements of many new researchers: despite what is said that the Papadiamantic text now makes it difficult for us with its language, due of course to the incomplete knowledge of Greek, Papadiamantis always remains among us.
