Anthology of folk tales of Thrace
Fairy tales, as is well known, are a basic type of popular literature, which attracted the interest of collectors and scholars from an early age. In fact, the collections of folk tales, which have been published in recent years and come from various Greek places, are increasing in number and thus expanding the folklore bibliography.
Such a collection from Thrace, which is part of the relevant series of the well-known "En Plo" publications, is included in the present volume. It consists of a total of thirty fairy-tale texts, which come from manuscripts of the Archive of the academician Georgios A. Megas, which belongs to the Library of the Hellenic Folklore Society, and have been classified according to the international Catalog of fairy tales by Antti Aarne and Stith Thompson. These texts, accompanied by some commentaries and a relevant glossary, apart from their entertaining character, certainly serve scientific and educational purposes.
