George Galitis

Georgios Galitis (1926-2022) was a professor at the University of Athens. He studied Theology and Philosophy in Athens and in Germany. He taught New Testament Science at the Universities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Munich. He was one of the drafters of the translation of the New Testament approved by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Church of Greece. He was the director of the magazine "Anaplasis", as well as a scientific advisor to German television during the production of films and shows related to Orthodoxy and Greece. For about 70 years he participated in international and Greek scientific conferences and committees, while he developed a rich social and teaching activity outside the university area. He authored books, studies and articles, many of which have been translated into several languages. With his Rethymnon wife Zafeiria, they had the pleasure of having three daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved Crete as his special homeland.
