NOTATION OF THE WHOLE THEATRICAL SPEECH
THOMADAKI MARIKA
ΔΟΜΟΣ
Semiotics, together with other sciences, serves the study of theatrical production and is an important branch of the wider spectrum of the science of Theatrology. Although a "super-science", Semiotics is placed at the service of Theaterology as well, occupying an important position in the creation of a solid theoretical background. The Semiotics of the Total Theatrical Discourse promotes knowledge about the polysemous object of Theatrology, that is, about the multiple levels of analysis that both the text and the performance advance.
The subject of Theatrology is strongly charged with dynamic signs-concepts and moves in a dangerous border between fantasy and reality, its paradoxical image is explained through the nature of the theatrical sign, which refers to convention and sometimes to transcendence.
