Following the life of Gerontissa Gabrielia we can classify her among the modern Deaconesses of our time. With absolute trust in God and with a free personal decision, he finds meaning in the service of his "neighbor". She goes and meets the brothers who need her, thousands of kilometers away from her place, creates a direct personal relationship with them and serves them humbly, quietly and with full awareness of obedience to the call of Him, who was the First Volunteer and First Deacon in the service of His brothers.
On the occasion of the canonization of Saint Gerontissa Gabrielia, this book
traces the ministerial work of her contribution to the relief of human suffering.
A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Eleni Platitsa was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He studied technologist agronomist at the TEI of Thessaloniki and theology at the Theology Department of the Theological School of A.P.Th. Then, she completed her postgraduate studies in the Department of Ethics and Sociology of the Department of Theology and became involved with the social work of the Church and in particular with the personality and work of Gerontissa Gabrielia. The present opinion was written in the context of the Master's Program of Studies "Theology and Culture". Her love for Osia Gabrielia begins in 1997, when she first read her biography and then visited the island of Leros, where her tomb is located. Today he works in a large pathology clinic and lives in Agia Paraskevi, Thessaloniki.
