The 32 Greek-language verse works composed - in elegiac couplets mainly - by members of Arcadia, during the 17th-19th centuries, and which I publish in this volume, I pointed out in the Archives of this Academy, and specifically to some of the 41 voluminous ones kept there volumes of Arcadian Manoscritti. In these volumes, all the surviving texts written in Italian, Latin or Greek by the Arcadis and which they recited in their meetings (adunanze), from the Foundation of their Academy (1690) until the beginning of the 10th century, have been stitched together. In locating these texts I was particularly helped by the relevant catalog edited by Barbara Tellini Santori, while for their commentary the advice given to me by the President of Arcadia, Mr. Aulo Grfeco, Professor of Italian Literature at the University of Rome, was invaluable. For this reason, as well as for his proposal that I be included in the Foreign Partners of Arcadia (which was accepted by the plenary meeting of its Regular Partners, on 16.3.1993), I once again express my warm thanks to him.
