Cardinal Ernesto
Ernesto Cardenal was born in Nicaragua in 1925 and studied literature and theology in Managua, Mexico and New York. He is one of the most important personalities of his homeland, as he was an active member of the Sandinistas movement and served for many years as the country's Minister of Culture. Today he is considered one of the most important poets of his generation, not only in Latin America but worldwide. In 2005 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature (poetry).
