I began this book with the intention of introducing to visitors to Greece some of the saints who are honored here and showing the origin of some well-known Greek names. However, as my research progressed, I began to realize what a special group of people they were. Moreover, I increasingly began to see them as people rather than supermen, spiritual heroes, or moral role models from the distant past. (Excerpt from publication)
