This book is an edited record of a single series of about twenty-seven lessons that took place in an informal "theological workshop". These courses started in 1987 at the Goulandri-Horn Foundation and were repeated from time to time either at the same foundation, or at the cultural society of Alsos Letters and Arts, or at the cultural society of Ainos. The last development of these courses took place in 2005, and this series forms the basis of this book.

The method of approaching the text of the Gospel according to John has a specific goal: to be a permanent catechesis lesson for adults through John's theology. After all, the gospel itself is a mystical catechism for baptized believers, who have been sealed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit at their baptism.
