The hatred of the atheists against the Church of Christ and the believers was so strong that it did not die out even after the collapse of the atheistic regime in Russia. Thus some of them found the opportunity during the great feast of the feasts in the monastery of Optina, on the night of the Resurrection, while the bells were proclaiming everywhere the glory of the risen Christ, to attack secretly and murder three of the fathers, who after the after the service they continued ringing the bells in joy for the celebration of the Resurrection. These fathers were distinguished for their holy life in the relatively short time they lived in the monastery, where they deserved to receive the crown of martyrdom.
