Stelios Papathanasiou

Stelios Papathanasiou was born in Neochori, Halkidiki in 1948.

Graduate of the Pedagogical Academy of Thessaloniki and the Faculty of Philosophy of the A.P.Th.

Postgraduate studies (Diploma in Education and Master of Arts) at the University of London (Institute of Education). Subject of the master's thesis: Cultural Reproduction and the Education of Greek Immigrants.

Doctor of the University of Athens with thesis topic: The educator in the society of the interwar period. Study of the face of the teacher and the teacher in the work of Myrivilis (1993).

Doctor of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with thesis topic: Theological conditions of society and community in Alexandros Papadiamantis (2005).

Author of the following books and booklets:
- For a sociological view of culture, ed. Paratiritis, Thessaloniki 2000.
- The Fallen Dervish and the Triumph of Otherness, published by Mygdonia, Thessaloniki 2005.
- Alexandros Papadiamantis and the horizon line, published by Mygdonia, Thessaloniki 2007.
- Alexandros Papadiamantis in the hiding places of journalism, Educational Foundation of E.S.H.E.A., Athens, 2008, 2011, 2013.

His articles published in newspapers, magazines and conference proceedings deal with issues related to the sociology of culture and education, literary theory and theology. Before ending up at the Experimental School of the University of Athens, where he completed his teaching term as a philologist (2008), he taught at all levels of Education (Elementary, Middle School, High School, Pedagogical Academy of Thessaloniki, School of Philosophy of the University of Athens ., University of Macedonia, Training Schools).


He has edited two TV documentaries (ET3): "Papadiamantis festive: "To Christ in the Castle"" (2004) and "Papadiamantis spring and resurrection" (2005).
