A public discussion of faith causes confusion: either because faith is today considered an inviolably personal matter, about which it is inappropriate to speak publicly, or because, contrary to other Christian ideas (such as love, hope, forgiveness), the faith is not translated into another language, moral or political, but claims and keeps its theological character. However, today's European reality, where faith has once again become a personal choice and decision, and not a self-evident social fact, is an excellent opportunity to ask what exactly faith is and how it differs from any other belief. As with all previous Bread of Life conferences, our approach is not academic. We do not deal with faith as a question of historical interest, but as an open question, which can nevertheless be an object of thought (and not just a hypothesis of experience): What is the relationship between faith and Reason, faith and will, faith and emotion? What is man's share in the enterprise of faith and what is God's? What is the relationship of faith with the other Christian virtues and primarily with love? Is there an ethics and politics of faith?
