Tachiaos Antonios-Emilios

Antonios-Emilios N. Tachiaos was a professor of the History and Secretariat of the Slavic Orthodox Churches at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a corresponding member of the Academy of Athens, a foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He has been honored with the International Prize of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He is also an honorary member of the Union of Slavologists of Bulgaria and the Group of Byzantologists of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg, and he holds four honorary doctorate degrees from foreign Higher Schools. He was the founder and president of the Hellenic Society of Slavic Studies (1975-2005) and of the Foundation for Studies of the Hemos Peninsula (1989-1997). He was in 1975 the founder and remains the director of the foreign-language international collaboration scientific yearbook Cyrillomethodianum, of which 19 volumes have been published. His scientific work refers to the spiritual and cultural relations of the Slavs with the Greek world of Byzantium. He is the president of the Cyril and Methodius Cultural Heritage Study Center.
