Alexandros Kapsokavadis

Alexandros Kapsokavadis was born in 1981 in Athens.

At the age of ten he started classical guitar and theoretical lessons.

As a student of the Music School of Western Attica, he came into contact with the night folk instruments, next to important teachers such as Christos Tsiamoulis and Nikos Grafsas.

After high school, he became close to Ross Daly and devoted himself to the folk lute and the musical traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean.

He is a graduate of the Department of Music Studies of Athens, holder of a master's degree in Music Culture & Communication and, since 2015, a doctorate in Ethnomusicology of EKPA.

He has taught at the music schools of Pallini, Ilio and Alimos. From 2009 to 2021 he worked as a music teacher in primary public education schools, while starting from the academic year 2021-2022 he was transferred as a Special Educational Staff at the University of Athens.

He has collaborated, as a musical performer, with some of the most important people in Greek music (Stavros Xarchakos, Nikos Mamagakis, Nikos Xydakis, Haris Alexiou, Dimitra Galani, Glykeria, Alkistis Protopsalti, Savina Giannatou, Haig Yazdjian, etc.).

As a composer, he appears in the Greek discography with the groups Mat se 2 Yfesesi and Polis Ensemble, having at the same time participated with his songs and music in numerous productions.
