Metropolitan of Panteleimon
Metropolitan Panteleimon is a Finnish Orthodox bishop and author (former Metropolitan of Oulu). Petros Sarho was born in Vierema, Finland on May 17, 1949 in a Lutheran family. In 1970 he embraced the Orthodox faith. He began his studies at the Orthodox Priestly Seminary from which he graduated in 1972. He did postgraduate studies at the Theological Academy of Leningrad, graduating in 1977. Then he became a monk at the Holy Monastery of New Valamos and was ordained a priest. In 1986 he received the office of Archimandrite. He served as Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Neo Valamos from 1987 to 1997. On March 16, 1997 he was ordained titular Bishop of Joensuu, Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Karelia. On April 1, 2002, he was elected Metropolitan of Oulu. On June 1, 2013, he resigned. He has written many articles, books, historical novels, etc.
