Father Philotheos Pharos

Father Philotheos Pharos was born in 1930 in Piraeus. He studied political science, law and theology. He became a clergyman in 1962 and continued his studies in pastoral psychology and pastoral counseling at Boston University in the USA. He taught pastoral psychology at Holy Cross School of Theology in Boston and worked as a Pastoral Counselor and Family Therapy Supervisor at the model psychiatric treatment community Human Resource Institute in Boston, where he gained significant psychotherapeutic experience doing individual and group psychotherapy and mainly working with families and couples. After his return to Greece, he tried to put his experience at the service of the Church of Greece, organizing a pastoral clinical practice program for clergy in a hospital in Athens. At the same time, he organized a youth center for the Archdiocese of Athens, where community life is cultivated and promoted. He has written many articles, studies and twenty books that deal directly with key issues for human life, such as bereavement, marriage, raising children, love, etc.
