Christoforos Sofroniou was born in Imbro in 1954 where he grew up. In 1967 he moved to Greece with his whole family, when his father Dimitrios - a teacher at the Imbro High School - was deported from Turkey. The family settled in Chalkida, due to the appointment of the father in Secondary Education. After completing his high school studies, he studied at the Medical School of the University of Athens and then specialized in cardiology, in Athens and in London. In 2015, with the approval of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, he was appointed Lord Recorder of the Great Church of Christ. With his wife Iouli Massalis and their four children, he lives "permanently" and works as a cardiologist in Chalkida, and serves as a cantor in the holy temple of "Mesa" Panagitsa. However, he maintains his ancestral hearth in Imbros and the "delicious Imar" is lively.
