Panagiotis No. Yfantis was born in 1966 in Athens, where he studied Theology (1983-1987). He was retrained at the postgraduate Department of Ecumenical Studies "San Nicola" in Bari, Italy (1988-1990), specializing in Church History. From 1995 to 2006 he worked as a theology teacher in Secondary Education and from 2004 to 2006 as an hourly teacher at the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete. Since September 2006, he has been serving as a lecturer in the Department of Church History, Christian Writing, Archeology and Art of the Theology Department of the A.P.Th. In 1993 he received the Arts and Letters Award of the Academy of Athens for writing an original historical study on "The contribution of the Holy Monastery of the Great Cave of Kalavryta to the national and spiritual life of the Nation until the end of the Second World War".
