Myrrh and aspasmos covered his scene. And the times that passed covered his memory.

The Spinalonga he loved became an attraction...

But the mute altar of Saint Panteleimon kept inside it, like the holy remains of the martyrs who sterilized it, his tear. He kept it deep in his bowels saying "remember!"...

Fr. Chrysanthos Katsoulogiannakis was the last priest of Spinalonga. He was born in 1893 and became a monk in 1911 at I.M. Toplou in Sitias. Later he went to I.M. Faneromeni Ierapetra. From there he left for Spinalonga voluntarily in 1947, where he ministered on the island until the closure of the leper home in 1957. He remained in Spinalonga alone for five years to take care of the lepers' graves and perform trisago. He returned to I. M. Toplou for health reasons. He fell asleep in 1972. He justly had the reputation of a saint.

Epaminondas Remoundakis, the reunited and "archangel of Spinalonga", is the second real person of the novel.

Through fiction, Maria Pastourmatzi brings to life the endless "passions" and "woes" of the inhabitants of Spinalonga and paints the only power that defeats human pain: Love that rises to the cross.
