A true story of resistance to the Nazi occupation

1941, Battle of Crete. WB Thomas is seriously wounded in the battle of Galata. He is captured by the Nazis and taken to various hospitals and POW camps. He ends up in a concentration camp, in the hell of Pavlos Melas in Thessaloniki. But he will manage to escape and with the help of many Greek families he will reach Halkidiki on foot and find refuge on Mount Athos. In Athos, he is confronted with unprecedented situations. Simple ascetic monks and prominent Elders of Monasteries try to support him and protect him from the Nazis. The New Zealand escapee who ostentatiously defied Nazism never stopped visiting and pleasing the Greeks.
