Most of the persons who live again through this book claimed a very spiritual life, in the spirit of Christ; they were real incarnations of the unspeakable love of God and people. Living according to the Gospel, the majority of them lived within social groups. Others, responding to a mysterious call, preferred to live for a time as sojourners, but without isolating themselves from their earthly brothers.

Overcoming with exemplary self-denial the weaknesses and passions of human nature, as well as the temptations of the devil, each one knew in his own way how to combine prayer with obedience – these two wings of spiritual take-off – and was able to give advice, to write and establish rules that remain to this day as shining testimonies.
