The first novel of Nikos Gavriel Pentzikis. As he himself described it, it is an "image of the erotic expropriation of the ego". His hero is a twenty-year-old Greek student from Thessaloniki - the hometown of Pentzikis - who wanders around Strasbourg without achieving anything with friendships or love with René Seger. He is tortured and finally drowns "in the current of the great river". Dimakoudis is governed by an ontological chaos which he cannot put in order. The author had the same mess when he wrote this novel, but he had the time and courage to sort it out by moving to what he needed, Christian ontology.
