The New Testament contains the word of God, as revealed by the immanent Word Himself during His presence in the flesh, as well as most incidents of His life, which the Holy Spirit deemed necessary for the salvation of man because as the apostle John testifies "And there are many other things that Jesus did, which, if they were written in one, are not for this world to be found in the written books" (Jn. 21,25). After much love, our Church, as well as other bodies, have ensured that this timeless and always new word is continuously published, to the glory of God and the spiritual benefit of the faithful. On the occasion of the homeigraphic edition of the brilliant and unique Gospel of John VII of Kantakouzenos, or as we say the Holy Monastery, I possessed in this library and most other imperial codices, bearing in mind the study which was demonstrated during the Byzantines times, so that the word of God may be presented often through the illustrated forms of the holy Apostles and other representations, after protograms and titles, he decided as a preliminary to an edition of the New Testament decorated after the illustrated forms and titles of the most important manuscripts which were donated to the Monastery under the emperor John VII of Kantakouzenos (14th century) as well as from the Gospel (11th century) which Andronikos II of the Paleologos dynasty gave to it.
