GROWING TOGETHER WITH LOVE, GRATITUDE AND JOY
In parenting, our children become our teachers as much as we are their teachers. Their difficulties and disobedience, what they discover in areas beyond our imagination, become living reminders of the mercy of God who endures everything for everyone.
The children we are parents to are inevitably also the children within us, the ones recalled by the presence of our children. If we pay attention, they help us rediscover areas of ourselves that we have lost; unhealed wounds that continue to ache, unfulfilled woes that smolder. Each one of us, before our children and our souls, is in the presence of Christ who reminds us: "Let the children and do not hinder them from coming to me" (Matthew 19,4). And: "Unless you turn and be born as children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3).
I hope that the stories in this book – little treasures from a father's heart, encounters with my children and grandchildren – will serve to encourage others and reveal something of their deep meaning and dynamism as a spiritual path.
