With an unexpected surprise, the encardia group makes its appearance in the field of discography. "Agapi mou fidella" is the title of the first CD, released by Melodiko Karavi. It is a collection of songs mainly from the Italian south, with a focus on the Greek-speaking regions.
The lyrics of the songs are a mosaic of Italian dialects (griko, Salendinica, Calabrian, Arvanitic), while a characteristic touch is the two labor songs from the rice plantations in Northern Italy, one of which is rendered in a special way by Argyris Bakirtzis (Winter Swimmers).
An excellent interpretation has also been given by Nikos Portokaloglou in the Greek-language song "Agapi mou fidella", while the original orchestrations by Vangelis Papageorgiou deliver us a new Mediterranean sound, based on the physiognomy of the band and the personality of the five musicians that make it up. And all of this, of course, with absolute respect for the local color and idiom of the region, a heritage of several centuries.
This is also indicated by the participation in the album of Kalavros lyre player Ettore Castagna, who marries his sound with the Mediterranean color of "encardia"
