A Critique of Christian America
An unholy relationship between state and church is evident in the way American Christians offer theological justification for waging wars in places far away, such as the Gulf War and in Iraq, but also in the way they respond to and interpret acts of terrorism at home of the American state, as in the case of 9/11.
"Both the Christian Right and the Christian Left do not disagree about the religious character of the American experiment. They disagree only about what language and what political theory will enable them to fulfill their common goal of making American democracy as much becomes a kind of manifestation of the Kingdom of God".
